〜ます / 〜ません
polite present / negative
ます covers both present habit and future. Group 1 (う-verbs) shift the last sound to the い row; group 2 (る-verbs) drop る.
Examples
毎日、日本語を勉強します。
まいにち、にほんごをべんきょうします。
I study Japanese every day.
お酒を飲みません。
おさけをのみません。
I don't drink alcohol.
