〜ました / 〜ませんでした

polite past / past negative

Just swap the ending: 食べます → 食べました → 食べませんでした.

Examples

昨日、映画を見ました。

きのう、えいがをみました。

I watched a film yesterday.

朝ご飯を食べませんでした。

あさごはんをたべませんでした。

I didn't eat breakfast.
